A memory quilt made with love

On Christmas morning, I had expected very little in the way of surprises.  I mean, after 13 years of marriage, we usually buy the gifts with each other and then wrap them for December 25th.  What happened after all the other gifts were opened, was beyond my wildest dreams.

Paul had commissioned an amazingly talented woman, named Ellen from Little Jewels Quilts, to take Zack’s shirts, blankets and pajamas and make a quilt.  I had seen a few of these online and had secretly wanted to save money to create one.

Ellen even wrote about being commissioned for the project, preparing Zack’s clothes, finding the perfect stitch for his name, and completing this special quilt for me and I can tell that not only was a tremendous amount of talent poured into this project, but also a lot of love.  Even her readers followed her journey making this blanket for me.  Just check out the comments- they blow my mind!

Paul and Ellen worked together on exactly how it would look.  It is truly beyond my wildest dreams and more beautiful than I had pictured in my mind.  Paul even took the boys to Ellen’s house so that they could pick it up together.  It turns out that the boys were in on the secret the whole time!

I love reading Paul’s comment on Ellen’s site;

There are no words to say thank you to Paul for this gift- I sleep with it every night, I grab it when I need comfort and I feel that there may even be a little bit of Zack’s spirit somewhere between the beautiful fibres.

Opening on Christmas morning- I look annoyed, but I’m chocking back tears- what a moment!
