How to Survive the Hockey Dressing Room… #EndTheChaos!

The hockey change room can be smelly, dirty and crowded! Add that to the noise of excited kids joking around, ignoring the requests from their parents and taking their precious time to change and it’s the makings of a comedy routine (or a great reason to drink!).

MjAxMy1kZTU4NDY2YjMyM2I2NTY2I have one hockey player who is very independent, gets focused and dressed without a word to him and then I have one who can’t stay on task when his buddies are around to distract him! Some of this I know is because he has ADHD (not uncommon in enthusiastic sport players), and that does come with struggles to pay attention to the task at hand…but does he really need to wrap tape 3 times in 3 locations on each sock?????

Of course he does, if he wants to win the World Record for the Largest Hockey Tape Ball! LOL

We tried a lot of strategies to help speed things up, but then Oneiric changed our entire dressing room experience last hockey season. We were able to skip Jayden’s taping ritual altogether with the new protective base layer pant with pockets for knee pads! It helped us to #EndTheChaos …and it saved us our sanity and our money!

Oneiric_Base+Layer+Hockey+PantOneiric, the company behind the innovative equipment for youth hockey players, just kicked off their new marketing promise to #EndTheChaos! This new campaign series aimed at hockey moms and dads, satirically mimics the struggles of parents (and their kids!) in the hockey dressing room. “We wanted to create a piece of content that not only entertained but was unbelievably relatable to all the hockey parents out there”, says Oneiric Co-founder and Creative Director, Kayla Nezon. The concept of this campaign is based on the Protective Base Layer Pant, Oneiric’s first-released product. The innovative design is a hybrid between base layer apparel and hockey equipment. It fills the need that modern day lower-body equipment lacks as it is difficult to put on, wash and fails to provide any protection at the back of the leg leaving players susceptible to injury.“The idea is simple. Our product streamlines the process for kids when dressing for hockey and in turn, making it easier for parents as well. Innovation in hockey equipment has been stagnant over the years and it was time to create something different”, says Emily Rudow, Founder of Oneiric. In addition to the convenience aspect of the protective base layer pant, it also provides added safety features as well.

“Our team is genuinely interested in changing the way kids get dressed for hockey so they and their parents can enjoy the game they love. It’s time to end the chaos!”

Watch this hilarious (and sadly realistic) video…and just maybe, it will help you #EndTheChaos this upcoming hockey season!

The Oneiric Story started in Ontario!

Oneiric is a Toronto based company. It started in Waterloo, Ontario with a strong passion for hockey igniting one dream of building a product that would make the game more enjoyable for young players. The business concept is to make the game of hockey safer for children by developing innovative products that also give them independence. Our attitude is that you shouldn’t need to buy a bunch of different pieces of equipment to keep your children safe. Instead, just one that really works.
