Am I crazy….are we really getting a dog????

Before you answer this question…yes, I am probably crazy, but I also know the benefits of bringing a dog into our family.

1. it will be a female puppy…and I need some estrogen around here!
2. it will teach our boys responsibility (well, in a few years)

3. Zack really loves animals and I think it will be really good for him

4. My beautiful friend Jill has offered to train our sweet puppy after she is born to her own dog, Molly- that’s got to make us REAL relatives now, right?

5. Did I mention that I get to buy pink doggie stuff, have a cute girlie name and “bitch” to another female about the boys in the house?

6. Cuddles from a furry “child” when our boys outgrow the snuggle phase

All joking aside, I’m really excited about adding a new member to our family this fall. With the crazy life we lead with three boys, Zack’s special needs, a nurse and Paul and I…we actually still have even more love to give.

If you aren’t convinced already that we are the perfect family for a new dog….We are home most of the time and travel very rarely. We are very organized and scheduled (perfect for raising a puppy). We have at least 3 homes that would be happy to “puppy-sit” at anytime.

Paul and I have really talked about this and we think we are ready for the added responsibility but also for the fun a new puppy can bring to our family and to our home. When we mentioned it to our boys, they were very excited.

Are we crazy or just a family who loves fun, craziness and lots of love in our home????
Please send us your advice…should we do this?

Enjoy your braver then I we had a lovable one once a Cocker Spaniel we loved him but after Ashley was born my mother-law adopted him and loved him dearly when I felt I couldn’t manage after her birth we had him for 8 years. Damon missed him dearly and ask for a puppy from time to time. We now home to a few fish. Good luck..I’m sure the boys will love him.

I don’t really think that a dog will be like a newborn, but we still need to make sure that our new puppy will fit in our lives with Zack’s therapies and needs so that our puppy is a well loved and cared for member of our crazy house!

Peppermint is cute! We were thinking Paris, Hope or Faith….

SO get her! She’s precious! Personally we are animal people (a Great Dane, two cats, and two aquariums), they just make life different and way more comforting. Names: Tiki, Tia, Trudy (Trudi), Tani, Trixie,

Go for it!! A puppy is a lot of work for the first year…but after that, they calm down quite a bit!! They bring such extra love into the house and I KNOW Zach will just love it!!! A good way to keep him moving–while trying to keep up with the puppy!!!
As for names…we’ve always had female dogs–so name suggestions!!–Candy, Roxy, KC, and our dog right now is Maddie–My sister in law just got one too, and named it Chloe…too cute!!
Hope you guys are enjoying your summer so far!!

Puppies are kinda like newborns atleast for the first few months. When we got Jessie we felt bad going out and leaving her alone, we could hear her crying from outside (was so sad) I had forgotten how much like babies they really are until we dog sat our friends 10 week old puppy. Oy the accidents all over the house! The good news is once they don’t need to be fed every 3 hours and the “puppy” stage only lasts a few months if you take the time to train them properly!
It is all worth it for the love you get in return. The wagging tail when you walk thru the door and the snuggles and unconditional love is really amazing! They ask for so little and give so much! If you can make time for the puppy I say go for it.
