Finding Christmas magic

I never want to forget the signs around me.
It’s when I need them most and when I ask Zack for them, that they have been revealed to me.

I write them here to preserve my memory, to share with all of you who may need to believe that signs exist, and to make it real for me. By writing them here, my journal, it means they really happened.

Tonight a sign came when I didn’t expect it.

Tonight was a family night at Kortright Centre in Vaughan, a Winter Christmas Wonderland. We were about to see Santa, do some crafts, roast marshmallows and have a horse ride through the woods.

As I sat on my own, I closed my eyes, trying to muster the enthusiasm that Ty and Jayden deserved. I tried hard to feel it.  But I couldn’t. Not today. Not tonight. I made my secret Christmas wish- ‘Zackie, be with me tonight.’

I joined the boys and we went off for our appointment with a truly wonderful Santa. As we were lining up, just outside of his cabin, the horses and carriage rode by. What was written on the side of the wagon?  ‘Lionel’s Pony Farm‘. You may remember that this special farm was where Zackie stood and fed animals for the first time. It was this sweet man, who, with these horses and a different wagon, took Zack’s casket to the grave. It was this man who also said ‘yes’ when I asked him to host our Family Dream Day fundraiser

I knew it was my sign. A reminder that while Zack feels so very far away, he is forever close to us.

I found some Christmas magic after all.
